DmanTheDude - Hip Hop Relevant Exclusive Interview

We were lucky enough to have the chance to interview up & coming rapper DmanTheDude recently and have him talk about his life, his influences, his work, etc., check it out below.

Tell us a little about yourself.

"I'm DmanTheDude, aka OTWBrucie "off the way bruice". I'm from the south side of Chicago, I don't care about limitations, I've experienced a lot at my young age. It eventually opened my eyes to the real world, but inevitably closed my heart at the same time."

How'd you get your start making music?

"I started making music when Carter told me to come over and rap on his beat. Before that I would always go and just watch and listen. Since that day me and Carter have been working ever since. Also have a collab tape in the future after his tape drops."

Who are some of your biggest influences?

"My biggest influence is women. I hate when people say they don't do things for women, that's the biggest cap ever. Why not? They are the best creation that ever happened on earth. I'm not saying I do what I do to impress them, I just write about them a lot. I write about the women I had, women I didn't have, and women who shine in my eyes. Shout out to all the women like Yello, she's so famous!"

Growing up who were some of your favorite artists to listen to?

"Growing up I listened to a lot of old rap, like Biggie, Scarface, and Devin The Dude. This was all after I listened to the Carter 3. That was the first rap album I bought and listened to over 100 times. Before Wayne, I listened to a lot of pop and rock."

What about today?

"Today I mostly listen to Florida rap like XXXtentacion (RIP), Ski Mask The Slump God, and Robb Bank$. Mostly Robb though he is the goat."

How would you describe your style/sound?

"I have a very unique sound, simple. You can expect fast paced, calm smoke like, or emotional music from me. Pretty much everything you need to get you through life. If you like anime references or weird yet ear catching lines then listen to me. I speak my mind in my music, so don't get offended. It's rap, it's controversial."

If you could work with any artists or producers, who would they be?

"I really want to work with all artists and producers form Chicago, but that is easier said than done. Understanding the flows within the city makes it difficult to get to everyone. On the other hand, I've worked with the best out of Chicago. People like Carter, SabioTreb, London, JosHHH, Nemominati and ThankYouWilson. Of course I would like to work with Robb Bank$! Tell him to hit me up!"

Who's your favorite person to collaborate with currently?

"I don't have a favorite person to work with, it's a different experience with everyone. I get a lot of work done with Carter though. It's always business when we link up. We have fun, but we know fun won't put us on."

Your most recent release is  your 7 track project "Enter The Dragon", have anything coming out in the near future you want to tell the people about?

""Enter The Dragon" is a solo tape I made with a few producers from the Chicago area. In the future I want to release a studio tape, so everyone can accept me in the future! I also want to work with Legit Creations. Kev is arguably the best videographer and editor out right now. Check him out!"

Where do you see your career taking you in the future?

"I follow the words of Griffith, I want my own kingdom. I don't only want to rap. I want more for myself and the people around me. I see myself with multiple businesses, clothing lines, and a foundation for the youth in Chicago. I'm all about giving back."

Anything else you want to tell the readers?

"Don't let anyone tell you life is easy. Your favorite artist worked for what they have, so if you aren't there yet just keep working. The ultimate goal in life is to be happy, so fight for it!"

Hopefully you were able to get a good, in depth view of the rising Chicago artist. We are currently working on releasing our very first Hip Hop Relevant podcast hopefully sometime this week, and hope to have Dman call in to talk about the interview and more!
